Podcast Setup on a Budget

You can start a podcast for under a hundred dollars. The gear is not the hard part.

The Samson Q2U microphone costs sixty dollars. It has both USB and XLR. Start with USB, upgrade later. It sounds good enough for a pro podcast.

Add a pop filter for ten dollars. It stops those plosive bursts. Get a boom arm so the mic is at mouth level.

Recording software is free. Audacity, GarageBand, or OBS all work.

Your room matters. Record in a closet or a room with soft furniture. Blankets on walls kill echo.

Here is the secret. Listeners forgive average audio if the content is great. They will not forgive bad content if the audio is perfect. Focus on content first.
