The stereo image is wrong. Headphones send left only to your left ear. Speakers create crossfeed. Your brain uses that to place sounds. You hear the mix differently.
Headphones miss the low end. You cannot feel bass the way you feel it through speakers. Mixes made only on headphones tend to have too much bass.
The fix is to use both. Mix on monitors. Check on headphones. Adjust.
If you must mix on headphones, use software like Sonarworks to flatten them. It helps.
The best setup is good monitors in a treated room. Headphones are for late night editing.
