Mixing in Mono

Mix in mono. It reveals problems stereo hides.

When everything is in the center, you hear the true balance. No panning tricks. No stereo width to hide behind. If something is wrong, you cannot miss it.

Phase issues become obvious. Two mics out of phase cancel each other in mono. Fix them and your stereo mix gets stronger too.

Most club systems are mono. Car speakers, Bluetooth speakers, many phone speakers. If your mix sounds good in mono, it sounds good everywhere.

Check your mix in mono throughout the process. Not just at the end.

Here is the rule. Get it right in mono. The stereo version will only sound better.
